Really pleased for Vince Clarke, the guys from Massive Attack and to a lesser extent Elbow (who are the darlings of the moment, it seems). Coldplay on the other hand… I just don’t get it.
Interesting article – not all of which I agree with. As an early adopter of Spotify (I got an invite from a colleague who worked on the licensing for it) I have already integrated it into my music consumption habits. I would say that I now discover and buy more music since these online music services have become available. My consumption is also more diverse.
So, not a huge amount of detail yet, but exciting news nonetheless… I have it on reasonably good authority, though, that the band are unlikely to release this by the same kind of method as In Rainbows.
So, before suggesting that PRS for Music are money grabbing bastards, as many people have said today, maybe use this wonderful tool called the internet that you love so much to source a little light factual reading on the realities of music licensing…
